World Card Making Day

Well, I may have all but completely missed Sewing Month in September - I only managed one project, but it was a brilliant one....I shall post on it soon....but I have NOT missed World Card Making Day. Luckily, Karisa's birthday is tomorrow, so I had an excuse to drag all my scrapping supplies out and make a card or two....or four as it turned out!!!

YAY!!!

First up ~ A card for my parents to give her

And a view of the inside.
For all of the cards I used paper from the Fun in the Sun summer stack that I got on clearance at Joann!!!! Huzzah for clearance!
This is the only one that has anything on the inside. I cut out several different things and I they were all so lovely that I had to use them all. I find cutting intricate paper bits quite relaxing.

This one is from me. It has a bit of three-dimensional flare to it....
Because I am
OBSESSED

with using 3-d dots!!!!!!

And finally, a couple of cards inspired by some I found awhile back on Etsy, but for the life of me I don't know where or by who....probably someone who's blog I read, but since I currently have 346 blogs on my Bloglines, I'm really not sure who...or that it would be feasable to try and find it.....but I totally give credit to whosoever made cards in this manner first....I did not think it up on my own. This is an excellent way to use up scraps and not have to feel bad about not using them or just putting them straight in the recycle bin marked PAPER...and also, they are so cute. These are waiting to see if they need any embellishing. However, they are wonderful as is, as well.
They are just cut into strips and glued on! Brilliant! And Cute! And Green! But mostly FUN!!!!
I love them!!!

So anyway...I have a wedding reception to go to tonight and I feel like harf. It should be fun though. Lots of old family friends involved - always good. And it's Island Casual, so I don't have
to get all dressed up. I suppose I'll survive.

Happy World Card Making Day to all!!!!!!!!

Good Grief! I forgot to give this a title and had to edit it to give it one!!!

Yesterday was a super exciting day around here...the books that I ordered from Amazon for my birthday finally came (it didn't actually take long, I'm just impatient about books!!!!)

Here they are with cat in residence, Tug, modeling with them!!!! I am sooooooo excited about all three of them!!!!!!!
The Gentle Art of Domesticity, by Jane Brockett, is a book that I have been coveting for a VERY long time. Her blog is gorgeous and I have been a follower for almost as long as I have been reading blogs (about 2 years....i'm always behind the times...). This book is brilliant and amazing. I have only just started reading it, but as I adore reading what she writes in her blog, I know that every single word will be a joy and her photographs are amazing. So bright and colourful, fun and happy. Can you tell I'm excited???

I chose Wreck This Journal, by Keri Smith and Art Journals and Creative Healing: Restoring the Spirit Through Self-Expression, by Sharon Soneff, to help with me learn to let go and be free when I am creating...I am only good at this with fabric scraps currently....I stifle myself in regards to words and am afraid of messing things up and ruining them or wasting them in regards to supplies, blank spaces, and precious bits and bobs. I'm hoping that with time I can learn to let go!

Keri Smith's blog is also an exciting one, but completely different than Jane Brockett's. She has many books that are all about exploring the world and yourself and opening yourself up to creativity. I think it would be wonderful to have them all, and also to have an endless supply of them, so as to be able to hand them out freely to people, to help spread the joy of creativity!!!

I have decided that I will post the gradual changes in my journal here. Here it is, crisp and clean, and for some reason, sideways......it's been traveling with me in my backpack, as one of the rules of the journal is to carry it with you always, so I will have to take another picture of it soon! Also, I had some fun with the biting page yesterday.....

I'm starting to get really into scrapbooking and hoping to get into art journaling. I encountered Art Journals and Creative Healing at Michaels one day and knew that I had to put it on my wishlist in my trusty moleskin that resides in my purse ALWAYS!!! It is a very inspirational book so far. It is also beautiful to look at. All of the representative journals featured in it are amazingly creative and gorgeous. Every page inspires me to get to work!!!!!!

Well...this turned out to be a very bookish post. A big thanks to my Grammy for the birthday money which caused the purchasing of these brilliant books!!!!!

Tune in next time for the saga of Tug the cat......it turns out all he's ever wanted to do was craft!

A Rambling Hello - in a Mad Tea Party-Jumbled sort of Way

I'm starting this blog as a way of joining the online crafting community I have been stalking for over a year and to help myself. I suffer from depression and have discovered that regular crafting is a miraculous medicine! In the words of Mad-Eye Moody, it requires constant vigilance, which is where the blog comes in! It will be a place to share my handiworks and keep myself focused!

Today may not have been the first day of fall, but it was the first scarf-weather day of fall - which makes it a brilliant day in my book. And lucky for me, I had a brand new scarf to test drive! I have been meaning to start a few years now, but the final kick in the pants was seeing Julie & Julia. The movie inspired me to start finishing things I have started and finally get my blog going!

So.......I have become the Queen of U.F.O.s! I have finished 3 scarves this month (don't be too impressed, they were all garter stitch, so nothing too complicated!!!) and now I am working on a blanket I started last fall.

My name is Sarah. I love crafting and baking. Children's Theatre is my passion - I work at a high school as the Assistant Director and Set Designer. I'm learning to take pictures on my expensive camera slowly, but surely.

Welcome and Enjoy!!!!!

Have a cupcake and please come back again! There's plenty of room at the table!!!!!!
